As part of the CLIMAAX project, the Municipality of Setúbal aims to understand better how precipitation patterns are expected to change in the future and how this may affect the frequency and magnitude of flash flooding. For this purpose, the Municipality of Setúbal applied the CLIMAAX Handbook to assess future precipitation patterns and related risks.
In Setúbal, previous risk assessments were prepared for floods, landslides, erosion, coastal flooding, estuarine flooding, coastal erosion, excessive heat, and forest fires. These risk assessments also included exposed elements and social vulnerability. The results obtained are now being considered in the implementation of the Climate Action Plan for Setúbal.
